Kirk Archibald Associate Director Sustainability

Kirk has direct experience of delivering a range of low impact developments incorporating amongst other sustainability credentials, energy efficient and low/zero carbon energy generating technologies. As such, Kirk is familiar with the full extent of energy solutions on the market including large or community scale systems delivered through new and innovative financial mechanisms.

Kirk’s previous experience includes working for the Energy Saving Trust, where he was responsible for developing government market transformation programmes for renewable energy. He also worked in the development and reinvestment department in a large housing association, Circle Anglia, where he was involved in developing innovative timber frame development projects and large refurbishment programmes.

He has also had a pivotal role in reviewing the Government’s proposals related to the recent Housing Standards Review. As one of the four strong Challenge Panel, he worked closely with the Building Regulations Advisory Council, the Homes and Communities Agency, the RIBA and the UK Green Building Council. He is currently chairman of the Zero Carbon Hub’s Energy Work group.

Marylis Ramos Associate Director Research

Marylis has particular interest and expertise in sustainability strategies and environmental design. Her role involves both technical delivery and project management and her project experience includes a number of high profile research projects, including the Zero Carbon Compendium for the Zero Carbon Hub, the Business Case for Green Buildings for the World Green Building Council, the Optimising Thermal Efficiency in Existing Housing research project for the Energy Technologies Institute, and more recently, the Red Lodge Climate Change Adaptation Study for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

She has excellent knowledge of UK and international environmental assessment procedures, and is able to advise on a wide range of sustainable design issues, both in building and urban design including daylight access, overheating and microclimates. Marylis has written a number of publications, has spoken at international conferences, and is a highly skilled researcher.
