Farrow Court wins Kent Design & Development Award

By PRP – 9 November 2018

Farrow Court, a PRP designed housing scheme has triumphed in the 'Best Residential (Major Site)' category at the Kent Design & Development Awards.

The award-winning development provides attractive and contemporary accommodation, integrating housing, health and adult services into the community. Built, owned and run by Ashford Borough Council, Farrow Court is a rarity in modern-day social housing provision for older people. It combines four complementary building typologies around a series of courtyard gardens: a community resource centre, 84 sheltered housing units for older people, an eight-bed recuperative care centre and 12 independent living units for people with learning disabilities.

"Farrow Court has revolutionised the way that provision for older people is delivered in our borough and formed the backbone of how we seek to address the emerging health and housing agenda. The dementia-friendly design is attractive, welcoming and homely. It will greatly help us meet the future needs of an aging population." Mark James, Ashford Borough Council
