Older People in London: Draft New London Plan Update

By PRP – 30 January 2019

The London Plan is a strategic document issued by the Mayor of London that sets out a housing policy framework which ultimately shapes how London evolves and develops.

In November 2017, the Mayor of London published an updated draft version of the London Plan for consultation, which included revised targets for delivering new homes across the capital. In March 2018, PRP produced a response document providing expert insight, commentary and recommendations for consideration by the Mayor of London.

Following further discussion and ahead of the upcoming hearing session on 27 Feb 2019, at which PRP has been invited to appear, PRP has now produced a response document specifically in relation to Policy H15 (specialist older persons housing).

As market leaders in the field of later living design, PRP is passionate about creating high quality communities and meeting the housing needs of older people in London. PRP therefore felt compelled to respond, as the wording of the plan as it stands would stifle the provision of much needed accommodation, of all tenures, in a deleterious way. We believe that this would be harmful to the growth of the capital and the people living within it.
