Planning approval granted for intergenerational housing in Swindon

By PRP – 17 July 2019

A new 239-home scheme in Oakfield, Swindon obtained planning approval last Friday (12 July) under delegated powers. The project has been a collaborative partnership between PRP and Metropolitan Workshop, with PRP designing a range of intergenerational dwellings across the site and advising on the creation of an inclusive masterplan, suitable for all ages.

The project sees Nationwide working with development partner Igloo Regeneration to deliver a 'meaningful and replicable local contribution to [help] alleviate the national housing shortage'.

"Nationwide's focus on intergenerational living is refreshing and demonstrates a real commitment to creating a community that provides for the needs for our society. For this, we designed a range of typologies, all located carefully within the masterplan, to foster a true sense of neighbourliness and enable older people to thrive within their community".
