PRP secures planning for residential quarter on Reading's River Kennet
Located on the site of the old Huntley & Palmers biscuit factory next to the River Kennet in Reading, Kenavon Drive creates a new residential quarter that pays homage to the site’s Victorian heritage.
Designed for L&Q, the scheme features 765 new homes in a mix of ‘loft-style’ penthouses, flats, ground-floor duplexes and townhouses. It also features two new public squares and a linear park, as well as a restaurant, shops and flexible employment space. The proposals incorporate a series of integrated streets and spaces, including a revitalised riverside promenade leading to a major new riverside square overlooking the River Kennet.
PRP's architectural, landscape and Development Consultancy teams have all been involved in the project, with PRP's planning team leading the pre-application discussions with Reading Council and continuing to manage the application post committee through the planning process.
When delivered, the scheme will enhance the eastern quarter of Reading and provide residents and locals with a well-connected, walkable neighbourhood and a place to enjoy a leisurely moment by the water.
