Stopping Building Failures

By PRP – 5 June 2018

PRP has contributed to a new report and best practice guide - "Stopping Building Failures" - that has been launched by The Housing Forum. Brendan Kilpatrick gives advice on how the right management and conditions for design and build contracts can deliver high quality housing.

Drawing on expertise from across the sector the report is aimed at providing a practical response to the "deep flaws in the current system" identified by Dame Judith Hackitt in her report 'Building a Safer Future'.

Stopping Building Failures is a great source of practical guidance, packed with expert commentary and case studies for clients and construction teams.

In particular the report provides advice and guidance to move away from a 'race to the bottom' procurement that is compromising building safety, with guidance on getting better value through the use of two-stage tenders and alliancing contracts, placing far more emphasis on quality and spending more time developing the brief including using value management techniques.
