PRP have received unanimous planning approval for Curry Rise. The scheme, making up part of the larger Millbrook Park masterplan, undertook extensive engagement with the existing residents that led to a successful ballot last year in June. The approval marks an important step in successfully delivering high-quality new homes for Barnet as well as new homes for existing residents.

The existing estate comprises of converted 1950s military barracks purchased by the client, Notting Hill Genesis, in 1996 and a small number of existing houses. The blocks are experiencing significant subsidence issues, with some of them deemed no longer safe to occupy.

The aim has been to embrace the much-loved existing landscape and create a proposal that showcases the best use of the existing mature trees and open spaces, predominantly in the centre of the site. The scheme works with a really challenging topography and additional site constraints, improving connectivity and accessibility for residents across the site. All this is done whilst allowing the majority of residents to remain living in their current home, before moving into their new homes as quickly as possible.

Curry Rise will deliver 329 new homes through a mix of five and six storey blocks of flats in the centre and southern portion of the site, along with three storey houses to the north, a reflection of the surrounding context.

The scheme is currently out to tender for a developer.

Danielle Lennon, Assistant Planning Director at NHG, said: "This is more than just a development project. It’s a complete neighbourhood regeneration that is future proofed for residents who will benefit from new homes that better meet their needs. Wheelchair homes. Improved and compliant accessibility across the site. Enhanced communal garden and play spaces, new access roads and pedestrian link connecting into Bittacy Hill Park."
