Bentley House in Hertford, Hertfordshire is a newly completed luxury care home for Signature Senior Lifestyle offering residential, nursing and dementia care for 85 residents. It has been converted from a mid-80’s office building which had been empty for several years.

The former unremarkable commercial exterior has been remodelled to give it an attractive, modern residential character including a new, stylish main entrance and external terraces at different levels. Inside, residents are offered a range of one-bedroom suites and generous studio suites plus an abundance of communal facilities. The ground floor, which formerly comprised the office car park, forms the new main entrance foyer and also accommodates a café, restaurant, shop and hobbies room for residents. The upper floors include a bistro, cinema, emporium, lounges and space for art, music, cooking and other activities.

The development sets a great example for how redundant office buildings can be successfully revitalised for residential use.
