Regeneration and Retrofit report launched

By PRP – 3 November 2017

The UK Green Building Council has recently launched its Regeneration and Retrofit report which outlines how high quality homes can be a catalyst for regenerating low income estates. Retrofitting individual houses with energy efficiency measures can create comfortable homes for residents; however retrofitting whole neighbourhoods can transform areas into vibrant and sustainable communities.

The report outlines an approach for retrofit-led regeneration which can transform low income communities across the UK. This approach is centred on two recommendations for project delivery: a Community Social Enterprise and Local Authority Revolving Fund. The Social Enterprise represents the interests of local people throughout the project and the Fund offers households a low interest loan, which revolves as repayments are made, to deliver the work sustainably.

PRP was extensively involved in the delivery of this report as members of the Task Group, authoring the benefits of whole home retrofit and vision sections as well as designing key infographics.
