Hackney’s Haggerston Estate has been transformed through a £110m regeneration project which has created 761 new homes (55% affordable housing; 45% for private sale) in a mix of townhouses and apartments, arranged as urban blocks around a network of pedestrian-friendly residential streets near the Regent’s Canal. Additional facilities include a multi-storey community centre and retail units.
Internal courtyard podium gardens and the largest expanse of ‘green roofs’ in the UK provide generous semi-private open space in a dense urban environment. The scheme is being delivered by L&Q in partnership with Hackney Borough Council, local residents, PRP and contractors Taylor Wimpey.
