This exciting development integrates extra care housing with a range of community facilities including a children's nursery, public library, sports and recreational amenities and healthcare suite. When complete in spring 2017 it will be one of the UK’s first integrated hubs and a model for future developments, placing older people at the very heart of their community.
The design concept is based around two new streets. A ‘community street’ promotes the health and wellbeing of local people, while a ‘residential street’ dovetails the development into the surrounding urban area. Once complete Shrewsbury Street Village will deliver an integral part of Trafford Housing Trust’s ambition to regenerate the wider Old Trafford area.
Two local GP practices will relocate into the Shrewsbury Street Hub and will work alongside the CCG who will also deliver additional services directly into the area, fulfilling the Government's ambition for health services to be delivered into the community seven days a week. These improved services will be complimented by a new pharmacy.
Interiors which are inclusive, inviting and accessible to all, creating a sense of community and involvement. To provide unique interiors which motivate, stimulate and accommodate the needs of residents and the wider community, both young and old, whilst improving the quality of life for everyone.
The building, its facilities and its dramatic interiors will set new standards in the creation of a community hub which will serve its diverse and vibrant community.
