A four-storey curving apartment building which creates an impressive frontage to a public park forms the centrepiece of the design for Millbrook Phase 4A. The scheme in Barnet, London is a residential mixed-use development of 114 flats and houses and a doctor’s surgery on the northern fringe of PRP’s masterplan for the area.
The development is sited on a former army barracks with an officers’ mess, and PRP has incorporated this listed building into the scheme, sensitively restoring and subdividing it to retain many of the original features. The officers’ mess gardens have also been extended and redeveloped as a public park.
This large suburban site sits at the heart of the London Borough of Barnet. With its northern and eastern edges adjacent to the Metropolitan Green Belt, the site was a former MoD Barracks and housing. This development allows over 2,000 new homes, office and retail space, primary school and nursery and numerous public parks to be introduced to the site. PRP developed a design code that determines and guides a high quality of design which produces considered and cohesive places when parcels of land are sold to developers.
