Designed as the anchor building within a new community hub which has been proposed as part of the Miles Platting PFI, which is delivering the comprehensive regeneration of this residential neighbourhood immediately east of Manchester city centre.
The two upper floors of the three-storey building are occupied by Adactus Housing Association, and include tenant consultation rooms as well as a staff gym. The ground floor is designed as space for a retail unit which will benefit from increased footfall because of its visual prominence alongside a key route into the city centre.
Extensive glazing and blue engineering brickwork give a strong contemporary feel to the prominently sited building and this palette of materials will be used to deliver subsequent phases of the community hub.
Adactus Housing Association aspired to deliver a building which was environmentally friendly and which exceeded current requirements and helped to deliver a building with a high-performing envelope, extensive PV on the roof, low water consumption and extensive natural light which has helped to secure BREEAM Very Good certification.
