The Centre of Refurbishment Excellence (CoRE) in Stoke-on-Trent is the first national venue for teaching, exhibiting and researching sustainable refurbishment and retrofitting. Fittingly, it was created out of a derelict Grade II listed Victorian pottery, with PRP’s designs making the most of the site’s raw industrial character.

CoRE comprises a conference and exhibition centre above educational workshops, a refurbishment training college, a refurbishment demonstration building (formerly a Victorian corner pub) and a hotel. PRP obtained Listed Building Consent, Conservation Area Consent and full Planning permission for the whole site redevelopment and were architects for the principal new build element, the training college.
