Gracewell of Bookham is a luxury care home providing high quality, personalised nursing, residential and dementia care.
The development provides 70 en-suite care bedrooms arranged in clusters of 20 or 25 rooms, depending on the floor. Each cluster has its own dining room, lounge, activity room, quiet room and spa bath for use by residents. Ancillary accommodation such as a sluice, clinic room, nurses' station and storage is also provided at each level. There are also five close care apartments included within the development.
The care home includes various central communal areas such as a bistro and stylish lounge. These areas provide the perfect environment for residents to meet and chat with family members and friends.
There is also a hair and beauty salon, offering a selection of treatments for residents along with a spacious patio and outside area overlooking a beautiful landscaped garden.
Little Bookham is a small village in the heart of Surrey and the care home was built on the site of the former Preston Cross Hotel. The facade of the historic building was retained but the floors and roof were replaced.
The architecture is contemporary whilst being respectful of the locally listed building and followed a close collaboration with the local conservation officer.
