Located in Littlemore on the outskirts of Oxford, the riverside site is in the grounds of the former Victorian Littlemore Hospital and retains remnants of its original parkland trees. The overgrown site is teaming with reptiles, which need to be protected within the design. The site provides over 250 new homes within a rich set of green streets and ecological parkland, where everyone looks out onto a green street and is just a step away from a green space.

The scheme creates a new structure of tree-lined streets and parking courts that reflect the grain of the Victorian hospital. Existing corpse and boundary planting are linked in a new green edge that wraps around the site and creates a new waterside park and woodland garden.

The corpse has thinned, woodland herbs have now been planted and a new glade area has been created. The waterside park has planting forming a colour ribbon from end to end. Informal lawns create places for picnics and play and are edged by ecological waterside meadows.

An orchard and community gardens provide a rhythm of food growing through the park. Within this new landscape, an unmarked burial ground is commemorated and respected for the first time.
