PRP has transformed this previously semi-derelict kennel and cattery facility. Once a noise nuisance, the site is now an exemplar for how a brownfield site in the green belt can be sensitively and appropriately developed to provide new homes.

The homes were designed to provide maximum flexibility for the owners, including space for home working and the ability to adapt the layout to accommodate changes for later in life. Lower in height than the previous redundant buildings, the site also represents a 40% reduction on the site's footprint, providing an improvement on the visual impact on the surrounding countryside. Furthermore, the 64% reduction in hardstanding and built form also has benefits in terms of drainage and flood risk reduction by increasing the permeable area across the wider site. Energy efficiency has also been imbued into the design, passive solar cooling has been encouraged by focus on thermal mass, generous glazed areas maximise natural daylight, efficient boilers with innovative heating controls and photovoltaic panels sufficient to meet the requirement for 10% reduction in carbon emissions through on site renewable technology.
